PRIVACY POLICY

Ahrens Security, LLC is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information Ahrens Security, LLC collects through this website, how that information is used and disclosed, and what choices you have.

Ahrens Security, LLC is a sole practitioner expert witness firm. Sean A. Ahrens is the only person who reviews information submitted through this website.

Information Collection

Information you provide. This website provides contact and intake forms. When you complete one, you may provide your name, your firm or organization, your email address, your phone number, your preferred contact time, and the contents of your message. The intake form also requests whether you represent a plaintiff or a defendant, a summary of the incident, the current stage of the case, and any disclosure deadline.

You determine what you submit. Only fields marked as required must be completed.

Information collected automatically. This website is hosted on the Wix platform. Wix records standard technical information about each visit, including IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, and pages viewed. Ahrens Security, LLC uses this information to understand which pages are useful and to maintain the website.

Cookies. This website uses performance cookies only. It does not use advertising or marketing cookies, and it does not operate advertising trackers. Performance cookies indicate how the website is used in aggregate. You may block or delete cookies through your browser settings, although portions of the website may not function as intended if you do.

Information not collected. This website does not sell products or services, does not process payments, and does not operate a newsletter or mailing list. Ahrens Security, LLC does not collect payment card information, bank account details, or Social Security numbers through this website. The resource guides available on the Download page are provided free of charge and require no submission of personal information.

Information Use

Information you submit is used to:

  • Respond to your inquiry and answer your questions

  • Evaluate whether the matter is one Ahrens Security, LLC is able to accept, and whether a conflict of interest exists

  • Provide a proposal or engagement terms

  • Communicate with you regarding an active engagement

  • Maintain records of engagements and conflict checks

  • Understand website usage and improve the website

Ahrens Security, LLC does not send marketing or promotional email. Inquiries receive a reply concerning the inquiry itself. Your contact information will not be added to a mailing list, and you will not receive unrelated promotional messages.

Case Information and Confidentiality

Two points apply to attorneys and firms using the intake form.

Submission does not create an engagement. Sending case details through this website does not retain Ahrens Security, LLC as an expert, does not create a consulting or expert relationship, and does not by itself establish privilege or work product protection. Until a written engagement is in place, this website should be treated as an unsecured channel, and you should submit only what you are prepared to send unprotected. For sensitive matters, contact Ahrens Security, LLC by telephone at 1 (833) 247-3677 to arrange an appropriate method of transmittal.

Conflict checks. Incoming inquiries are reviewed against existing and prior engagements before a substantive response is provided. Accordingly, Ahrens Security, LLC retains sufficient information regarding declined inquiries, typically the parties, the property, and the general nature of the matter, to conduct accurate conflict checks in the future. That information is held in confidence.

Declined matters. Where a matter is declined or referred elsewhere, information submitted is not used or disclosed for any purpose other than the conflict record described above.

Information Disclosure

Ahrens Security, LLC does not sell your personal information. It is not rented, traded, or otherwise transferred for the commercial purposes of others, and it is not shared with advertising networks, data brokers, or marketing agencies.

Information is disclosed only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers. This website is hosted by Wix, and email is delivered through a third-party email provider. These vendors process information on behalf of Ahrens Security, LLC solely to operate the website and deliver messages, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

  • Within an engagement, at your direction. Where Ahrens Security, LLC is retained, information may be shared as the engagement requires, including with your firm's litigation team.

  • Legal requirements. Information may be disclosed where required by law, including in response to a subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process. Where notice to you is permitted, notice will be provided.

  • Safety. Information may be disclosed where reasonably believed necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of any person.

Data Security

Ahrens Security, LLC takes reasonable measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no data transmission over the Internet and no storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and the security of information you transmit cannot be guaranteed. Please refer to the confidentiality section above regarding sensitive case materials.

Data Retention

Information is retained for as long as necessary to serve the purposes described in this policy, to satisfy the professional and recordkeeping obligations applicable to expert witness work, and to conduct accurate conflict checks. Retention periods for litigation records are frequently lengthy. To determine whether information regarding a particular inquiry is still held, contact Ahrens Security, LLC using the details below.

Your Choices

You may request access to the information Ahrens Security, LLC holds about you, request correction of inaccurate information, or request deletion. Requests should be directed to the contact information below and will receive a response within a reasonable period.

Two limitations apply. Conflict check records may be retained notwithstanding a deletion request, because conducting conflict checks is a professional obligation. Records associated with an active or concluded engagement may also be retained.

Depending on your place of residence, additional rights may apply under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the General Data Protection Regulation. If you believe such a law applies, contact Ahrens Security, LLC and your request will be addressed accordingly.

Children's Privacy

This website is intended for attorneys, insurers, and other professionals. It is not directed to children under the age of 13, and Ahrens Security, LLC does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a child has submitted information through this website, contact Ahrens Security, LLC so that the information can be deleted.

Changes to Privacy Policy

Ahrens Security, LLC reserves the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. Your continued use of the website following any such change constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
